One at a Time began as a Chrome extension concept designed to make online reading feel more focused, guided, and less overwhelming. The idea came from my own difficulty with reading long blocks of text online, where I often lose track of my place or feel visually distracted by too much information on the page.
The original goal was to build an extension that would display written content one word or one line at a time, synchronized with the user’s scrolling. As the project developed, the extension format became technically difficult to execute, so the final outcome shifted into a standalone website prototype.
Although it no longer functioned as a browser extension, the site still explored the same core idea: slowing down the reading experience and giving the viewer more control over how text appears. The project became a study in accessibility, attention, and how interface design can support a more intentional relationship with online reading.
